City of Burgers
A roundup of the city's best burgers.

Blue Smoke
116 E. 27th St. (bet Park Ave South
& Lexington Ave); Murray Hill; 212-447 -7733; Avg $12
This Murray Hill smokehouse brings southern-style barbecue to New York in a great way. The baby back ribs are one of
the best sells on the menu, with more than three variations to choose from. After dinner, just make your way downstairs to enjoy the smoky sounds from the Jazz Standard.

Burger Joint @ The Parker Meridien

Paul's Place 131 2nd Ave

Inside the Le Parker Meridien Hotel; 118 W. 57th St (bet 6th & 7th Ave); Midtown; 212-708-7414; Avg $6
One of the juiciest $4.50 burgers that you'll find in New York. Hidden away in Le
Parker Meridien hotel lobby, this coffee-shop-style local is filled at lunch with the midtown work crowd, but you have to find it first so just ask at the door. Thick milkshakes and crispy fries are also on the menu. Who knew Le Parker Meridien was hiding so sweet a secret behind their elegant facade?

Corner Bistro
331 W. 4th St @ Jane St; W. Village; 212-242-9502; Avg $5
The Corner Bistro's highlight is the "Bistro Burger" - a legendary broiled beef patty topped with cheese and several strips of bacon packed between a sesame-seed bun. All of
this for only $5.50. There may be a line at this dingy tavern, but the burgers are well worth the wait. The burgers are praised as the best in town, so get there early, enjoy $2 draft beer while you wait for your burger and crisp, tasty fries.

P.J. Clark's
915 3rd Ave @ 55th St; E. Midtown; 212-317-1616; Avg $6
This East Side saloon, having recently undergone structural renovations by its new owners, including actor Timothy Hutton, has not lost it's appeal. It remains a draw to all types, the after-work crowd, the trendy partygoers, and even a slightly older group all seeking to enjoy P.J.'s celebrated, signature juicy bacon cheeseburger and home fries. Make sure to finish the meal with an order of cheesecake.

Paul's Place
131 2nd Ave @ St Marks St (8th St);
E. Village; 212-529-3033; Cash Only; Avg $6
There are over twenty-plus options for burgers (like the blue cheese burger). It's a juicy, rich burger that Paul's Place serves, with this place size matters (the burgers we mean!). The clown and airplane toys swirling about overhead give this diner a friendly vibe.

Pop Burger
58-60 9th Ave (bet 14th - 15th St); Meatpacking; 212-414-8686; Avg $5
Pop Burger is a study in contrasts. Burger joint by day, lounge by night, you'll find a cross between fast-food-service meal options mixed with pricey martinis and red banquette lounge seating. Shoot some pool, grab a mini sirloin burger and a serving of lobster nachos, and relax in this meatpacking district spot that can pack a crowd anytime.
