Pick Up Spots
Ok, so here are some great places for finding that special someone.

Bounce
1403 2nd Ave; (@ 73rd St); 212-535-2183
It's rare that a sport's lounge can successfully double as an upscale singles scene, but the games are just beginning when the sporting events and these 13 satellite-connected TVs are turned off. Shapely girls who know the owners - one of whom used to manage a pair of Rande Gerber's places - wear their sexiest outfits to meet-up with non-fratty Upper East Side guys who've been filling-up on popcorn shrimp and cocktails. One long open and airy room, there's a sense of community at Bounce that's helped by energetic DJs who spin hip-hop and rock tunes.

Idol
166 1st Ave; (bet 10th & 11th St); 212-228-0444
The velvet ropes are up and lower First Avenue will never be the same now that Idol's here. A sassy bouncer studies would-be patrons before admitting them to this rock oriented spot. Upstairs, a spacious bar area leads to a posh lounge where table service is recommended, but not necessarily required. Downstairs, a second DJ entertains a VIP crowd that pays for 3/4 square banquettes that are surrounded by ferns. A second bar area adorns the downstairs where there is ample standing room that could be mistaken for a dance floor.

The Flat
16 E. 1st Ave; (bet 1st & 2nd St); 212-677-9477
This semi-seedy lounge has been waiting since September '03 for the East Side to make a comeback and it's starting to seem as though that just might happen. Having seen celeb appearances from Drea DeMatteo, The Rock, Rosario Dawson, Demi and Ashton, Guru, Scarlett Johanson, and Maxwell among others, this bi-level Moroccan lounge with a decidedly urban following rocks on the weekends and has ample seating during the week.

Session 73
1359 1st Ave; (@ 73rd St); 212-517-4445
Rock and roll is alive and well at this Upper East Side club with a Lower East Side cool. Divided between a restaurant, a bar area, and a big concert space, this music club entertains a white collar and ripped jeans crowd with live bands seven nights a week. A lot of these acts are of the Black Crows and Spin Doctors variety, but occasionally, something new and original rocks the house. There's never a cover and always a good time to be had at Session 73.

Plan B
339 E. 10th St; (bet Ave A & B); 212-353-2303
Formerly the popular dance club Drinkland, Plan B has replaces its predecessor's hipster elitism with a more collegiate vibe, but the three rooms that make-up this space can still be a lot of fun. The main room offers a small stage that occasionally sees live reggae performances, but the "make-out room" in back is where you want to be. They're trying to promote "inexpensive" bottle service here, but skip it and hang around near the bar.

Don't go out yet, here are the next 5.... Next 5
